Oak Glen's Kamela Ward got out well and continually pulled away for the convincing win in 12.37. Her trials time of 12.32 is the 6th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Winfield got a big 2-3 finish from Carli Boggess in 12.71 and Mikaila Armstrong in 12.85. Weir's Mea Kaufman joined them under 13 seconds with a 12.92.

Oak Glen's Kamela Ward made up the stagger within 50 meters and ran away from the field to take the win in 25.64. Winfield's Carli Boggess edged past Elkins' Kiley Edwards for the 2nd spot in 26.49 to Edwards' 26.56. Lewis' Bianca Jamen closed well to join them under 27 seconds to take 4th in 26.88.
RunWV's Current Score: 14 of 16.

400 Meter Dash
Oak Glen's Kamela Ward asserted herself over the final 200 meters to blow away the field by over 2 seconds with a very strong 58.80. Grafton's Hadley Horne was a solid 2nd in 1:01.02. Lincoln's Hannah Rowan slipped by on the outside to snag 3rd in 1:01.83 in a tight finish over Winfield's Emma Pendleberry's 1:01.93 and Robert C. Byrd's Brea Lathon's 1:02.00. Lathon led most of the 1st half of the race and held on for 5th.
RunWV's Current Score: 21 of 24.

800 Meter Run
Grafton's Emily Viani led the field out of the break, but teammate Hadley Horne quickly moved into the lead. Horne would lead at the 400 mark in a blistering 1:04 with Viani right behind matching that time. Liberty Harrison's Destiny Berryman was in 3rd at 1:06 with Weir's Naomi Young at 1:07 and Nicholas' Emily Barr also at 1:07. The Winfield trio of Rachael Withrow, Ava Ethridge, and Mariam Al-Zoubi held the next three spots with the first two at 1:08 and the 3rd at 1:09. Viani made the pass into the lead with about 280 to go. She generated a gap by the 200 mark as Berryman closed in on Horne. Viani was not threatened down the stretch as she won by nearly 2 seconds in 2:19.01. That gives her the 8th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Barr closed really hard over the final 200 to take a strong 2nd in 2:20.97. Berryman took the 3rd spot in 2:22.47. Ethridge nipped Withrow at the line for 4th, 2:23.41 to 2:23.43. Al-Zoubi slipped past Young late to finish 6th in 2:48.80. Young took the 7th spot in 2:25.16, and Horne held on for 8th in 2:27.11.
RunWV's Current Score: 29 of 32.

1600 Meter Run
Winfield's Rachael Withrow led a tight group of four out of the break. They quickly moved to single file. After one lap, it was Withrow in the lead at 1:12 with Liberty Harrison's Destiny Berryman matching that time in 2nd. Winfield's Ava Ethridge was in 3rd with teammate Mariam Al-Zoubi in 4th with both at 1:13. Herbert Hoover's Jenna Brown was in 5th at 1:15. Robert C. Byrd's Claudia Moore was in 6th at 1:17. I think it was Oak Glen's Hannah Kliner in 7th and North Marion's Taylor Hess in 8th, also at 1:17. On lap 2, Withrow opened a gap on the field, coming through in 2:29. Berryman remained in 2nd at 2:33 with Ethridge in 3rd at 2:34. Al-Zoubi reamined in 4th at 2:35. Moore had moved into 5th at 2:37 with Brown matching that time in 6th. Kliner was in 7th at 2:42 with Hess in 8th at 2:44. On lap 3, Withrow continued to extend her lead, coming through in 3:49. Berryman held the 2nd spot in 3:55 with Ethridge close behind in 3:56. Moore had moved up to 4th in 3:58. Al-Zoubi was in 5th at 4:02. Brown was in 6th at 4:07. Kliner was in 7th at 4:09, and Hess remained in 8th at 4:14. On the final lap, Withrow was not threatenend, and she sped home to the win and a new State Meet Record in 5:07.33. That also stands as the Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Ethridge made the pass on Berryman with about 200 to go and closed well to finish in 5:10.90, which stands as the 5th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Berryman held the 3rd spot in 5:14.21, which stands as the 10th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Moore finished a strong 4th in 5:16.01. Al-Zoubi held onto the 5th spot in 5:28.67. Brown kept the 6th spot in 5:31.07. Kliner kept the 7th spot in 5:32.37, and Frankfort's Addison Lease moved into the final spot down the stretch to finish in 5:36.72. One of my predicted placers scratched the event.
RunWV's Current Score: 36 of 40.

3200 Meter Run
Robert C. Byrd's Claudia Moore and North Marion's Taylor Hess led the field out of the break. At the end of the 1st lap, it was a tight trio at the front with Moore in 1st, Winfield's Rachael Withrow in 2nd and Hess in 3rd with each at 1:19. Liberty Harrison's Destiny Berryman was in 4th at 1:20. Oak Glen's Hannah Kliner was 5th at 1:21 with that time matched by Herbert Hoover's Jenna Brown and Frankfort's Addison Lease. Wayne's Olivia Williamson was in 8th at 1:22. On lap 2, Withrow and Moore distanced themselves from the pack with Withrow in the lead at 2:38 and Moore matching that time. Berryman was in 3rd at 2:44. Kliner was in 4th at 2:46. Hess was in 5th at 2:47. Brown and Lease held the next two spots at 2:49. Williamson was in 8th at 2:51. Lap 3 saw the front two stay together with Withrow still in the lead at 4:00 but with Moore still right behind at 4:01. Berryman remained in 3rd at 4:10 with Kliner in 4th at 4:13. Hess was still in 5th at 4:17. The camera didn't catch the rest. I believe Lease came through at 4:21 with Brown and Frankfort's Brooke Jacobs at 4:22. At the midway point, Withrow finally started to open a gap, coming through at 5:23. Moore was 2nd at 5:25. Berryman was still 3rd at 5:38. Kliner was in 4th at 5:44. Hess remained in 5th at 5:49. Lease and Jacobs were at 5:56 with Brown at 5:58. On lap 5, Withrow's lead started to grow as she came through at 6:48. Moore remained very solidly in 2nd at 6:53. Berryman was pulling away in 3rd at 7:07. Kliner's grasp on 4th was strengthening, coming through at 7:16. Hess was in complete control of the 5th spot at 7:21. Lease and Jacobs were at 7:34 with Brown at 7:36. After 6 laps, it was Withrow now well in front at 8:15. Moore remained in 2nd at 8:24. Berryman was in 3rd at 8:37 but starting to close slightly. Kliner remained in 4th at 8:49 with Hess still in 5th at 8:57. Lease and Jacobs were at 9:14 with Brown at 9:15. After 7 laps, Withrow had it wrapped up, coming through in 9:41. Moore was in 2nd at 9:57 with Berryman now a little closer at 10:08. Kliner was in 4th at 10:22 with Hess in 5th at 10:31. Lease and Brown were at 10:52 with Jacobs in 8th at 10:53. Withrow pounded away to the finish, just missing out on breaking 11:00 with her 11:02.98. That gives her the 2nd Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Moore held on for 2nd in 11:28.88 with Berryman a close 3rd in 11:32.35. Kliner easily held the 4th position in 11:45.03, and Hess slipped in under the 12:00 mark with an 11:58.11. Brown would move back into the 6th spot in 12:17.87 with a strong finish. Lease took the 7th spot in 12:20.74, and Jacobs held onto 8th in 12:27.48.
RunWV's Current Score: 43 of 48.

100 Meter High Hurdles
North Marion's Rylee Delovich took the lead from the gun and sped away to dominate the field by over a second with a 15.24. That gives her the 6th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Fairmont Senior's Paytyn Neal caught her trail leg on the 2nd hurdle but was able to recover for 2nd in 16.37. Poca's Bella Skeens was 3rd in 16.39. Shady Spring's Lilian Hatfield (16.65), Independence's Lilli Honaker (16.72), and Lincoln's Keely Stire (16.85) were also under 17 seconds.
RunWV's Current Score: 50 of 56.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
North Marion's Rylee Delovich took the lead over the 3rd hurdle and extended it the rest of the way to win by just over a second in 46.21. Poca's Bella Skeens broke open a close race for 2nd over the final 2 hurdles to take 2nd in 47.22. Winfield's Mia Duterte outlasted Grafton's Hadley Horne for 3rd, 48.21 to 48.59.
RunWV's Current Score: 57 of 64.

4x100 Meter Relay
The Oak Glen foursome of Kensington McConnachie, Natasha Ward, Aubrey Stoica, and Kamela Ward got the comeback win with Ward overcoming a 5+ meter deficit to take the win in 50.35. That stands as the 7th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Winfield was in a strong 2nd in 51.04. Fairmont Senior was a solid 3rd in 51.54. North Marion and Weir joined them under 52.50.
RunWV's Current Score: 65 of 72.

4x200 Meter Relay
The Winfield crew of Makaila Armstrong, Carli Boggess, Madi Arthur, and Emma Pendleberry took over on the 2nd leg and sped away to win by over 2 seconds in 1:46.33. That gives them the 8th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Fairmont Senior was easily 2nd in 1:48.54, well over 2 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Only Weir (1:51.08) and Elkins (1:51.61) were under 1:52 among the rest of the field.
RunWV's Current Score: 72 of 80.

4x400 Meter Relay
Elkins staked the lead through the 1st leg with Weir in 2nd. I believe North Marion was in 3rd. Weir would move to the front early in the 2nd leg and distance themselves from the field, coming through in 2:06. North Marion was in the 2nd spot at 2:11 with Elkins and I think Fairmont Senior right behind. After 3 legs, Weir was still well in front at 3:09. Elkins was in 2nd at 3:15 with Fairmont Senior in 3rd at 3:16. I think Poca was up to 4th with Point Pleasant in 5th and North Marion in 6th. On the final leg, Weir continued to get away from the field and the squad of Mea Kaufman, Gabriella Spickard, Olivia Baker, and Naomi Young pulled away to win in 4:12.39. Elkins held off the late charge of Fairmont Senior for 2nd, 4:19.76 to 4:20.15. Poca held the 4th spot in 4:21.67 with Point Pleasant in 5th in 4:22.98 and North Marion 6th in 4:24.77. Shady Spring and Keyser claimed the final two spots from the first heat.
RunWV's Current Score: 78 of 88.

4x800 Meter Relay
Grafton led through leg one in 2:25. Winfield was in 2nd at 2:27. All the uniforms look very similar after that so, it's hard to say who's next. I have Liberty Harrison listed at 2:33, so they're probably one of them. On leg 2, Winfield completely took over, moving 17 seconds in front of the field at 4:50. Fairmont Senior was in 2nd at 5:07. I believe Grafton was in 3rd at 5:11 with Philip Barbour at 5:13 and Frankfort at 5:14. After 3 legs, Winfield remained way ahead of the field at 7:29. Fairmont Senior was still in 2nd at 7:45. Point Pleasant was up to 3rd in 7:49. I show Grafton at 7:54 and Liberty Harrison at 7:55. At the end, it was an easy win for the Winfield group of Mariam Al-Zoubi, Ava Ethridge, Hannah Starcher, and Rachael Withrow who came in under the 10:00 at 9:57.13. Liberty Harrison got a 2:21, maybe a 2:20 anchor leg from Destiny Berryman, and she made two very late passes to steal 2nd for Liberty in 10:16.41. Point Pleasant scored the 3rd spot in 10:16.72 with Fairmont Senior in 4th at 10:17.56. Grafton held the 5th spot at 10:24.22. Frankfort edged past Philip Barbour down the stretch for 6th 10:36.83 to 10:37.57. North Marion took the final spot at 10:43.23.
RunWV's Current Score: 85 of 96.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
The North Marion foursome of Addie Elliott, Isabella Richards, Maylie Bland, and Rylee Delovich edged to the front at the end of leg 3, and Delovich buried the field on the final leg to score the win by over 1.7 seconds with a 1:05.88. This also scored them the 10th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Fairmont Senior got a strong close from Paytyn Neal to move into the 2nd spot in 1:07.59. Winfield took the 3rd spot in 1:08.65. No one else was under 1:10, and only Weir and East Fairmont were under 1:11. One of my predicted placers got hit with a DQ.
RunWV's Current Score: 91 of 104

High Jump
Four jumpers were able to clear 5'0 with a pair of them getting it on their first attempt, but only Liberty Harrison's Kaleigh Ryan was clean throughout to take the win. Nicholas' Adrienne Truman was the other and took the 2nd spot. Sissonville's Madison McCutcheon and Winfield's Emerson Vanscoy were the others to clear 5'0 with both doing so on their 2nd attemp but with McCutcheon taking 3rd and Vanscoy 4th on prior misses.
RunWV's Current Score: 98 of 112.

Pole Vault
North Marion's Maylie Bland and Point Pleasant's Katie McCutcheon each cleared 9'0, but Bland got it on her 1st attempt to secure the win while McCutcheon got it on her 2nd attempt. Only Keyser's Celia Cole cleared 8'0 among the rest of the field.
RunWV's Current Score: 105 of 120.

Long Jump
I saw a massive celebration over at the long jump, and looking at the field series, I see why. Oak Glen's Kensington McConnachie sailed 17'2.50 on her final jump to move from 6th to 1st. Fairmont Senior's Paytyn Neal went 16'7 for 2nd. North Marion's Cierra Parker went 16'3.25 for 3rd. Winfield's Emerson Vanscoy went 16'2.25 on her 1st attempt and held 4th. Nicholas' Adrienna Truman and North Marion's Lanie Richards both went 15'9.75 with Truman getting the 5th spot on the tie-breaker. North Marion's Gabrielle Conaway was 7th with a 15'7.75, and Sssonville's Lydia Oxley was 8th with a 15'6.75. Those 8 finalists were all nearly a full foot better than the rest of the field. In a rarity, I got all 8 placers right in the long jump.
RunWV's Current Score: 113 of 128.

Shot Put
Grafton's Jerra Halbritter sent her 5th throw 37'5.50 to move into the lead and take the win. Winfield's Mallory McGinnis had her best two throws on her lasts two attempts, but couldn't quite match Halbritter with her top throw of 37'2.25. Poca's Klaire LeRose was 3rd with a 34'9.75. No one else went over 33'0, but Weir's Kendall Drobish moved from 7th to 4th on her final throw as places 4 through 7 were separated by just 6 inches.
RunWV's Current Score: 120 of 136.

Discus
Weir's Kendall Drobish sent her 4th attempt 115'2 to take the win by over 8'. Winfield's Mallory McGinnis was 2nd with a 106'8 on her final attempt. Nitro's Karson Jones threw 104'6, a season best by over 5' to take 3rd. Point Pleasant's Hannah Baker and Nitro's Isabella Cowger joined them at over 100'.
RunWV's Current Score: 127 of 144.

The final score of 127 of 144 means that 88.2% of the people picked to place did indeed place. That's one of my better showings at less than one wrong pick per event. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
